MSD Washington Township Announces International Baccalaureate Authorization K-12

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 16, 2014) – MSDWT has received formal notification from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) that all Washington Township secondary schools have achieved full International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorization.

“On behalf of the International Baccalaureate, it is my privilege to inform you that North Central High School, Westlane, Eastwood & Northview Middle Schools have all become authorized IB World Schools for Middle Years Programme (MYP),” said International Baccalaureate Director General, Dr. Kumari in a letter informing the district of this new status. “Congratulations on your considerable accomplishment. We look forward to working closely with you to realize our shared vision of a better and more peaceful world, achieved through intercultural understanding and respect.”

Dr. Nikki Woodson, Superintendent of MSD Washington Township shared that “the journey in being an IB World District certainly does not end with authorization. Rather it is a beginning to an ongoing journey of continuous improvement, staff development and student achievement. We look forward to this continued journey!”

One year ago, all seven Washington Township elementary schools became fully authorized IB World Schools. The recent announcement of all secondary schools becoming IB authorized makes Washington Township one of few school districts in the nation to be fully IB Authorized World Districts. Every student in Washington Township receives instruction taught through the International Baccalaureate framework.
