Nathan Keith Named 2014 WT Teacher of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 3, 2014) – Mr. Nathan Keith, math teacher at Westlane Middle School has been named the 2014 Washington Township Teacher of the Year. Monday morning, at an event to celebrate the end of the school year for 1,500 Washington Township employees, Mr. Keith was named Teacher of the Year, out of 12 other nominees.

“A belief in the potential of all students sounds like a cliché but truly identifies Nathan Keith and his teaching style,” said Westlane Middle School Principal Linda Lawrence. “He yearns for all students to realize their full potential, and as a natural risk taker he empowers students to be true inquirers of their learning. Nathan exemplifies the word teacher and his achievement of his students is consistently outstanding.”

Last year at this event, the winner of the Washington Township Teacher of the Year recognition, Steve Perkins, went on to be named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Indiana. Mr. Perkins recently returned from a Teacher of the Year trip to Washington D.C. where he met the President of the United States.

As the 2014 Washington Township Teacher of the Year Mr. Keith is the district’s representative to the Indiana Department of Education for the state teacher of the year selection process, and will represent Washington Township at the statewide Teacher of the Year competition.
