INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 4, 2014) – Washington Township continued its long legacy of excellence in education with the release of the 2013-2014 state standardized scores. Amidst a very diverse urban student population, the ISTEP+ results show continuous improvement and some of the top scores in all of Marion County.

Our analysis shows improvement in achievement scores for the district as a whole, and growth in achievement scores for several cohorts of students in multiple schools and grade levels. These increases are likely attributable to the district’s focus on innovative approaches to education such as International Baccalaureate and Math Science Partnership with IUPUI and Purdue University.

In Marion County, when comparing to districts with similar student populations (Pike, Lawrence, Wayne, Warren, Perry, Decatur & IPS) Washington Township is proud to have the 2nd highest pass rate of all tested students passing BOTH English Language Arts & Math. Additionally, Washington Township has the highest pass rate for Social Studies and Science when comparing the same districts mentioned above for all tested grades.
