New Administrators in Washington Township
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (November 13, 2014) – At last night’s Washington Township Board of Education meeting two new administrators were recommended and approved, to replace retiring Director of Special Services and retiring Director of Elementary Education. Both positions will officially begin second semester.
Mrs. Mary Lowe will assume the position of Director of Special Services for Washington Township Schools. Mrs. Lowe brings over 30 years of experience in the education field, most recently serving as the Interim Director of Special Education at Indianapolis Public Schools. Prior to that position and since 2005, Mrs. Lowe served as the Assistant Director of Special Education for IPS. In these two roles, Mrs. Lowe assisted with overseeing the provision of special education services to over 7,000 students. Mrs. Lowe is also currently an Adjunct Professor at IUPUI, teaching a variety of special education courses for undergraduate students in the School of Education. Mrs. Lowe received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Ball State University, and her Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Indiana University.
Mrs. Kimberly Piper will assume the position of Director of Elementary Education for Washington Township Schools. Mrs. Piper is the current Principal at Crooked Creek Elementary in Washington Township, where she has led the administrative and teaching team for the past six years. Prior to 2009, Mrs. Piper served as the Assistant Principal at Towne Meadow Elementary, in Carmel Clay Schools. Prior to working in Carmel Clay, Mrs. Piper was a 4/5 grade teacher at Greenbriar Elementary in Washington Township, where she was also awarded the Teacher of the Year in 2004-05. Mrs. Piper received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, and her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Butler University.
