INDIANAPOLIS, IN (January 28, 2015) On Wednesday January 28th, Drew Deutsch, the Director of IB Americas will be in Indianapolis and will be recognized and give brief remarks at the MSD Washington Township Board of Education meeting. This marks the 2nd time that the top IB leader for all of the Americas will address Washington Township leadership since the three district middle schools and North Central High School became authorized as International Baccalaureate World Schools, this past June. In June Deutsch attended the Administrative Advance prior to the school year starting, addressing administrators and department chairs.

The June 2014 announcement of authorization made Washington Township the first school district in the state of Indiana to be a fully authorized IB district, and one of only a few districts nationally delivering curriculum through the IB framework, for ALL students in every grade level. The seven Washington Township elementary schools became IB authorized during the 2012-2013 school year.

“We are so pleased to be welcoming Director Deutsch to Indianapolis again,” said Dr. Nikki Woodson, Superintendent of Washington Township Schools. “This, our first year of being a fully authorized International Baccalaureate World School District, is an exciting time for students, parents, teachers, administrators, and Board Members. ”

Director Deutsch is scheduled to give brief remarks after his recognition at the Board Meeting tonight, from 7-7:15 pm at the H. Dean Evans Community and Education Center, 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd.

What is International Baccalaureate?
“The IB continuum of international education for 5 to 19 year olds is unique because of its academic and personal rigor. Students are challenged to excel in their studies and in their personal growth. The IB aspires to help schools develop well rounded students with character who respond to challenges with optimism and an open mind, are confident in their own identities, make ethical decisions, join with others in celebrating our common humanity and are prepared to apply what they learn in real world, complex and unpredictable situations. The IB offers high quality programs of international education that share a powerful vision. ” -from www.ibo.org
