INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 15, 2015) – On September 16th from 4-6:00 pm, Superintendent Dr. Nikki Woodson and North Central High School senior Jayna Ratcliff will meet with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as part of his “Ready For Success” bus tour. This education discussion will celebrate the successes of Connecting Families to Schools and Closing the Achievement Gap, and will be an important opportunity for a diverse group of students to tell Secretary Duncan and his staff about their learning experiences. “This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with the top education office in the country,” said Dr. Woodson. “I am excited to share some of our Washington Township success stories with Secretary Duncan and even more excited to bring along one of our top students from North Central High School, Jayna Ratcliff. I know that her perspective will be invaluable to Secretary Duncan.” Jayna has excelled academically throughout her elementary and middle school education in Washington Township schools. Now, a senior at North Central High School, Jayna continues to excel by maintaining a 4.1 GPA or higher and earning honor roll and high honor roll statuses. With goals to further her education beyond high school, Jayna has narrowed her college choices to Indiana University, University of Notre Dame, University of Chicago, Stanford, Harvard and Bellarmine Universities. “Ready for Success” will take place at Crispus Atticus High School on September 16th from 4 to 6:00 pm. Following the formal program the City of Indianapolis and the Office of Education Innovation will hold a meet-and-greet with Secretary Duncan, community leaders, and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce for students and Superintendents.
