IB Training for Over 300 Teachers
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS HOST IB TRAINING FOR OVER 300 TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 8, 2011) – Monday and Tuesday (August 8 &9), the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township will host training for the International Baccalaureate program, for over 300 district teachers and administrators. This marks the first time that IB has authorized a district to offer level 3 training on-site.
The day will focus on training for both the Primary Years Program as well as the Middle Years Program, in the areas of math, science, humanities, language arts, physical education, visual and performing arts, technology, and assessment.
Earlier this summer, the District’s three middle schools and North Central High School were accepted as Candidate Schools, following the acceptance of the District’s seven elementary schools as Candidate Schools in spring of 2010. This new status allows all of the District’s schools access to the IB worldwide forms on program related topics, as well as other IB curriculum materials.
Washington Township anticipates IB authorization of all elementary schools to be spring of 2012. Authorization of the middle and high school is anticipated in spring 2013. Upon authorization, all district schools will be IB world schools.
“Our district schools share a common philosophy – commitment to high quality, challenging, and international education. The district believes this is important for every student in Washington Township,” said Superintendent Dr. Nikki Woodson.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Today’s training will be from 8:00-3:30 at Northview Middle School 8401 Westfield Blvd. 46240 and the Central Education Center 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd. 46240.
