WT Teacher of the Year Named
On May 31, 2012 teachers from around the district were recognized for outstanding professionalism and teaching, in a district-wide celebration in the North Central auditorium. One teacher from each school was named Teacher of the Year in their building, and of those 13 teachers, one was named the Distinguished Teacher of the Year for Washington Township. Congratulations to Kathy Robbins from Greenbriar Elementary for earning the Distinguished Teacher Award.
Kathy Robbins has been an inspiration to her students and fellow educators in Washington Township and throughout Indianapolis. She has a diverse classroom, and has achieved tremendous success with her learners. 100% of her students passed the IREAD3 test AND 100% of her students passed the 2012 ISTEP test. Because of her enthusiasm, local and state officials welcome the chance to hear our students’ voices and recognize the difference our students make.
This distinguished educator is our district nominee to the Indiana Department of Education for the state teacher of the year selection process. Mrs. Robbins will represent Washington Township at the statewide Teacher of the Year competition.
Congratulations Kathy Robbins. This award is so well deserved!
Other named Teachers of the Year in WT are Kathleen Ferguson from Allisonville, Laura Mathews from Crooked Creek, Emily Kniesly from Fox Hill, Kim Matsuoka from John Strange, Paige Hackerd from Nora, David Raes from Spring Mill, Carla Shadiow from Eastwood, Marionne Fort from Northview, Holly May from Westlane, Andy Wiggins from North Central, Lori O’Leary from Hilltop, and Nicole Albers from J. Everett Light Career Center.
A special thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Fernando Falcon of Champion Chrysler Jeep and Dodge, for their continued support of Washington Township Teachers. Please enjoy the following presentation for our Teachers of the Year, created by Champion.
