Metropolitan School District of Washington Township students are back in class today, with new school hours and a new school year calendar. Last school year the Board of Education voted to approve a schedule that would bring more balance to the year and significantly add more hours of instruction to the district’s seven elementary schools. While the new calendar calls for an earlier start to the school year, it allows for extended time at fall break and Thanksgiving. View the District calendar and new hours here:

Superintendent, Dr. Nikki Woodson today, deployed the entire Central Office staff out into the schools to offer support on the first day of school at arrival and dismissal times. This not only gives added support to principals and teachers during this very busy time, but it also allows administrators to see firsthand the excitement of the first day of school and everything that goes into making it a successful day. “This is one very concrete way that we can help the schools feel the support from Central Office,” said Woodson.

Central Office employees will continue their support at the schools during the entire first week that students are back (8/6 – 8/10).
