Supplemental Educational Services
NCLB SES AND SCHOOL CHOICE
Title 1 schools that have been identified for improvement are required to offer parents the opportunity for Supplemental Educational Services or School Choice.
Supplemental Educational Services (SES) is an opportunity for free tutoring for eligible non-proficient free and reduced lunch students. These services are in addition to instruction provided during the day and may take place after school, on weekends, or during the summer. Tutoring is supplied by Providers who have been approved by the Indiana State Department of Education. This tutoring aligns with the Indiana State Standards for Academic Achievement.
Parents also have the option of School Choice when the resident school has been identified for School Improvement. Parents are allowed to send their students to another school that is making improvement. Transportation is provided by the school district for as long as the resident school is identified for School Improvement. School Choice is offered to all students. Parents who choose to transfer their child to another school cannot take advantage of the free tutoring at the resident school.
