MSD Washington Township Middle Schools is pleased to offer Honors classes for academically talented students grades 6 – 8. The richly differentiated curriculum for the classes is based on the Indiana Standards and the content, pace or depth of instruction is accelerated.

All fifth grade students may be considered. Students will be recommended by their 5th grade teachers for one or more 6th grade honors classes in English/language arts, social studies, and/or science classes on the basis of their performance and potential. Know that students must have earned an average grade of “B-“ or better on their current report cards to be recommended for a subject area. Students in the COMPASS program will automatically be placed in one or more of these honors classes but they must have earned an average of “C-“ or better on their report cards for each subject area recommended. Eligibility for honors math will be determined using a separate process.

Final selections will be made by each middle school. By mid-May, letters of invitation or denial for acceptance into one or more honors classes will be issued to you by each middle school and you will have the opportunity to grant or deny the placement. Parents of students not selected may contact their middle school and request for reconsideration on behalf of their child.

Should you have questions, contact the Principal at the middle school your child will be attending next year.
