Pati
Henary, has six children. Before fleeing to the camp in 1997, he
was from a village in the east of Tavoy, Burma. In his village he
was a farmer and grew betel nut and other crops on his plantation.
He said living in refugee camp is different from the community,
it is crowded, noisy and smelly and it caused diseases and sicknesses.
In the refugee camp to get extra income he makes rice grinder (to
grind rice flavor). This grinder are used to grind rice powder for
making snacks and other foods. One grinder cost 100 Thai baht. To
make this he has to buy cement, and collect sand. He said, "before
I can sell three to four grinders in a month. Now, I can only send
one in three or four months." |
