The First- Ever ICPE General Membership Meeting

 INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 25, 2011) – The First- Ever  ICPE (Indiana Coalition for Public Education) General Membership Meeting took place Saturday, September 24 at the MSD Washington Twp. Community and Education Center at 86th Street & Woodfield Crossing Blvd., Indianapolis, IN.

Panelists included:

State Sen. Tim Skinner, Terre Haute

Eugene White, Supt., Indianapolis Public Schools

Karen Francisco, Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette

Ed Eiler, Supt., Lafayette Schools

Joel Hand, ICPE Attorney

ISTA representative re: the voucher lawsuit

Nikki Woodson, Host Supt, Washington Township

Vic Smith, ICPE Board Member, Panel Moderator

The ICPE is a new, bi-partisan non-profit organization. Its mission is to focus public tax dollars on the K-12 education of public school students by opposing legislation in the Indiana General Assembly that would:

fund private school vouchers

  • expand private school tax credits
  • privatize charter schools by allowing private colleges and agencies to be authorizers
  • put for-profit managers in place to take a profit from operating public schools
  • privatize public schools through any other means
