Many Washington Township school students will be participating in school-wide National Mock Student Elections this week in an attempt to educate students, and teach them the importance of exercising one’s right to vote. Students at participating schools are registered to vote in the nationwide Mock Student Elections on Thursday, Nov. 1.  From 8:30-11:00 a.m. Entire school populations will vote and totals will be added to schools across the country with results being announced nationally on Friday, Nov. 2.

“We are thrilled that so many students in our school district are having the opportunity to be involved in this valuable simulation,” said Marsha Reynolds, Director of Elementary Education. “Voting is such an important right of which far too many people do not take advantage and we hope each student better realizes the value of voting in our country.”

“Many teachers in the district have been teaching at all grade levels about government, issues, and elections,” said Kathy Parrish 5th Grade Teacher at Allisonville Elementary School. “It is wonderful for our students to experience this real-life exercise in democracy!”
