NCHS AVID Program Class of 2015 Reaches 3 Million Dollar Goal

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 2, 2015) – 52 AVID Seniors at North Central High School have exceeded their goal of securing 3 million dollars in non-need based scholarship and grant offers.

This is not only a reflection of the successful combined efforts of the North Central AVID students, AVID Elective Teachers, AVID Tutors, AVID Site Team and AVID Site Coordinator but also a testament to the rigor and scaffolding providing to these students from each teacher in each department for the entirety of their experience at North Central High School. Additionally, many of these AVID students have been in the program since the 7th grade, and the support and guidance they received at their sending middle schools should not go unmentioned.

“I am thrilled that these students have met a goal that in August they believed would be a reach,” said Lynda McQuiston, NCHS English and AVID Elective Teacher. “I could not be more proud of them, just as I could not be more proud of working with an administration, faculty and staff at North Central High School and throughout Washington Township who understand that our students can and will succeed if we challenge them and provide support for them to do so.”
Listed below are each of the schools that have offered admission to a North Central High School AVID senior for the 2015-2016 academic year. As of February 10, 2015, in addition to being accepted by the following colleges and universities, the 52 North Central AVID Seniors have thus far been offered $3,251,546 in non-need based scholarships and grants. That total does not include any federal or state financial aid nor does it include 21st Century Scholarships.
