At the October 21, 2015 Regular Meeting of the Board of Education the following school was recognized for helping to make Washington Township a Superior School District.
Westlane Middle School was awarded an Educational Excellence Award by the Indianapolis Urban League. This is the first year these awards were given and nine schools or programs received the recognition.
David and Malachi Mayes Grade 6 and 8 represented the students of Westlane at the luncheon. They are among the best and brightest at Westlane Middle School. Not only are they outstanding young men, but they are supported by a family that surrounds their education and provides the best for these young men. Their mother and father are both North Central graduates while their Grandmothers were both career educators. This family as a whole represents Washington Township in a magnificent way.
