INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 27, 2017) – At last night’s Washington Township Board of Education meeting Mrs. Brittney Brown was recommended and approved to become the Co-Principal at Greenbriar Elementary School. Mrs. Brown will serve as Co-Principal at Greenbriar in partnership with the school’s current Principal during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years, providing additional leadership until the opening of the new elementary school which will be on the current Harcourt Elementary building site. Mrs. Brown will commence leadership of the new elementary school in the Fall of 2019 after construction is completed.
Mrs. Brown joined Washington Township in 2012 where she first served as a fifth-grade teacher at Greenbriar Elementary. Most recently, she has been serving as Assistant Principal at Nora Elementary since 2014. Prior to Washington Township, Mrs. Brown held positions in Wayne Township as Kindergarten teacher and an English as a Second Language teacher.

Over my last five years in the district, I have deeply appreciated the diversity and multiple opportunities that Washington Township provides for our students. I am looking forward to working alongside Mrs. Alexander at Greenbriar Elementary to continue to grow the amazing staff and students there. Additionally, the prospect of opening a new building is beyond exciting. I am eagerly anticipating this opportunity to create a building that is safe and nurturing while also equipping our students to become successful citizens.”
Mrs. Brown holds a B.S. from Indiana University in Elementary Education, an M.S. from Indiana University in Education, Language Education, and her administration license also from Indiana University. Her new leadership role will be effective at the conclusion of the 2016-2017 school year. The search for an Assistant Principal for Nora Elementary is underway.
