New Middle School Administrators Named

Northview Middle School Principal and Eastwood Assistant Principal Announced

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 11, 2019) – At the July 10th Board of Education meeting, the School Board approved the appointment of Mr. Steven Pelych as Principal of Northview Middle School, and Ms. April Tuason as Assistant Principal of Eastwood Middle School.

Mr. Steven Pelych

Mr. Pelych comes to Washington Township after most recently serving as Principal at Cardinal Ritter High School, where he re-established Cardinal Ritter’s “A” rating with IDOE after the school received back-to-back “B” ratings. Prior to Cardinal Ritter, Mr. Pelych served as principal at Indianapolis Lighthouse Academies. Receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Science at Butler University, Pelych received his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Marian University and a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from The University of Indianapolis. He holds his State of Indiana School Administrator’s License as well as his State of Indiana Professional Educator’s License.

Ms. April Tuason joins the leadership team at Eastwood Middle School after most recently serving as the Individuals and Societies Department Chair and Teacher at Eastwood since 2014. In 2016 Ms. Tuason was selected as the Washington Township Administrator of the Year. Prior to Eastwood, Ms. Tuason served as Principal and Assistant Principal at Hoosier Academies. Ms. Tuason received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Indiana University (Bloomington) and her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Trevecca University in Nashville, Tennessee. Ms. Tuason holds her State of Indiana Teaching License as well as her Indiana Professional Educator’s License and Building Level Administrator. 

“I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve the Eastwood community as Assistant Principal,” said Ms. Tuason. “As both an educator and parent in the district, I believe in our mission in helping all students be successful; I’m excited for this next step.”
