WT Schools Reopening Update

WT Schools plan to start the 2020-2021 school year as originally scheduled on July 30th unless directed otherwise by Governor Holcomb, Mayor Hogsett, or the Marion County Public Health Department.  Specific details regarding reopening are under review and development.  The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) released guidance on June 5, 2020  pertaining to the opening of schools –  DOE Reopening Guidance.  As you can see, there is a wealth of information, operational details, budget implications and planning timelines to review.  We have begun this extensive review and planning, but it will take time as the details within the guidance are vague.  District leadership is attending numerous meetings with IDOE, Marion County Department of Public Health, Marion County School Districts, and the Mayor’s office to continue this comprehensive planning.  We have formed a MSDWT Reopening of Schools Task Force as well that will begin meeting and has representation of all levels and areas of our schools for planning. Your responses to the survey below will be crucial for our planning, and we appreciate you taking the time to complete it.

Once we review the survey data as well as unpack the nearly 40 pages of guidance, we will share out the WT Reopening of Schools Plan with parents.    We will not, unfortunately, have all the answers by the June 17 forum.    This forum will focus on the panel of guests speaking to COVID-19, not on details for reopening of schools.  If you have questions for the panel, please email them by end of the day on June 15, Mon. to Dr. Woodson at nwoodson@msdwt.k12.in.us, to give the panelists time to prepare.

We ask for your patience as we need appropriate time to plan for the guidance that was just released on June 5.
