District Awarded Funding

WTS recently celebrated being awarded over $200,000 to increase the pipeline for highly qualified teachers and administrators of color in WTS, by removing barriers for current African American staff in WTS to achieve additional licensure and degrees.

The funds were awarded by Lilly, through the Indianapolis Urban League to implement IAAQLI grant opportunities. WTS was awarded in three areas.

o    2nd Area:  $50k for African American teachers and administrators to mentor new African American teachers and administrators in WTS and to promote successful on-boarding and retention to start with the 23-24 school year.

o    3rd Area:  $170k in tuition support for degree advancement and state licensure obtainment.

Thank you to Lilly and to the Indianapolis Urban League for awarding these funds to further strengthen our commitment to equity in WTS.
