William Turner

Early in his career, William (Bill) Turner worked in the Washington Township School system as the In-School Suspension Supervisor at Westlane Middle School, later as a supervisor for Resort Condominiums International before being a supervisor at Brylane, Inc.  Bill is currently the Associate Vice President for Jobs for the Future (JFF).

For many years Bill has been actively involved in Washington Township schools, serving as President of the North Central High School Athletic Booster Club, and the Women’s Soccer Booster Club, North Central High School Parent Council Representative and Co-chair of the 8th grade trip for Westlane Middle School.  Extending a hand to the broader community, Bill tirelessly served a nine-year term as President of the Wheeler-Dowe Boys and Girls Club, a volunteer for the Indiana Black Expo Boxing Tournament, United Way Steering Committee member for Allison Transmission, Inc. and two terms as Treasurer of the Greater Indianapolis NAACP.

Bill’s leadership and volunteerism awards include the ” Bob Chambers Service Award” from Indiana Black Expo Boxing Tournament, ” Volunteer of the Year” from Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis (2005) and Wheeler-Dowe Boys and Girls Club, ” 15 Year Service Award” (2007).

Bill was elected to the Washington Township School Board in May 2010.  Bill graduated from North Central High School in 1978 and subsequently earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Purdue University at Indianapolis.

Bill and his wife Laurie, a Washington Township elementary teacher, have three daughters, Lauren, a 2008 North Central High School graduate, Ashley (Class of 2011) and Chandler (Class of 2013).
