Superior Schools in a Supportive Community

Washington Township Schools Parent Council President, Ms. Kristina Frey, shares her perspective about our district's planning process and needs. She also highlights important information from the spring community outreach presentations that will help to continue and shape the long legacy of the district.

PYP In Action: IB Exhibition Projects

Nearly 800 Washington Township fifth graders are completing their Primary Years Program (PYP) Exhibition Projects. The projects are completely student centered; students develop their central ideas and what action they are going to take based on their research.

Washington Township Schools VIP Card

Washington Township (WT) is offering a VIP Card to residents who live within the district and are 60 years of age or older. VIP Cards provide FREE ADMISSION to any scheduled (hosted) WT events, which includes concerts, plays, and sporting events.

Community Partnerships

In an effort to encourage daily reading practice and increase student reading over the summer, Vincennes University, in collaboration with First Book, recently donated 3-5 books to every kindergarten student in the district.

MYP In Action: Living History Series

The Living History Series, the highlight of US History class for many students at North Central High School, is designed to provide access to primary source teaching from community veterans. Students attend morning and afternoon presentations in small groups with our veterans.

The Future of Washington Township Schools Needs YOU

When Kevin Buchheit, Washington Township Resident and School Supporter, moved to Indianapolis, he and his family first considered where they would find a strong public school system. Just as they invest in the upkeep of their home, they expect our district to consider and make the same kinds of investment decisions with its buildings and programs. Read more from Buchheit's perspective.

Stay Connected After June 8

Thank you for your engagement in our strategic and master facilities planning throughout this school year. We have appreciated your feedback at community meetings and through multiple surveys. Every piece of input has been helpful and we look forward to putting your ideas into action. On June 8th a recommendation will go to the Washington Township School Board to approve a referenda proposal that would go on the November 2016 election ballot. After June 8, Indiana state statute prohibits the school district from promoting a position on these ballot questions. Community members and supporters have formed a group to promote the passage of these school referenda from June 8 through the November election.
