We Grow Panthers Spotlight

NCHS Performing Arts Shines

North Central High School performing arts programs are showing what it means to be proud panthers! Our students recently took center stage across multiple competitions, and the results speak for themselves.

At Show Choir Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee, our show choirs made us proud on a national stage. The Counterpoints earned First Runner-Up in the Mixed Division, with Sylvi Phillips recognized as Outstanding Female Performer. The Descants placed 5th in the Treble Division, with Tilly Hayes honored as Outstanding Female Soloist. These achievements are the result of months of hard work and dedication. A heartfelt thank you to directors Jared McElroy and Daria Weingartner for leading such a phenomenal season, and to Carrie Reiberg and Adam Clutinger for their invaluable support in making the Nashville trip a success.

Closer to home, our jazz programs closed out the season in style at the 2026 ISSMA Jazz State Finals. KC Jazz Vocal earned multiple finalist honors and took home the title of Best Tenor Section. The NC Jazz Ensemble matched that energy, earning multiple finalist recognitions and the distinction of Best Saxophone Section. We extend our sincere congratulations to directors Liz Morrison and Andrew Brinkman for their outstanding leadership and commitment to student excellence.

Thanks to a Great Team!
Experiences like these remind us how special our performing arts community truly is. The talent, teamwork, and support shown by our students, staff, volunteers and supporters, continue to inspire. We Grow Panthers!

Transportation Update

We’re sharing an important update about the Here Comes the Bus (HCTB) app so that families can prepare ahead of an upcoming change.

What’s changing
By the end of March, the updated version of the Here Comes the Bus app will be released to all users on Android and iOS. Android users may already be familiar with this version, as it has been available in the Google Play Store as a Beta release for the past few months.
Once the update is released, parents and caregivers will automatically see the new experience when they update the app.

Why this update is happening
As part of our Software Modernization Initiative, the HCTB app is being refreshed with a more modern design and improved functionality to make it easier and more intuitive for parents and caregivers to use.

What parents will notice
The updated app includes:
·    A refreshed interface with bottom navigation
·    Faster account creation – using a secure 4-digit code
·    Optional student photo upload
·    New Single Sign‑On (SSO) options, including Clever, ClassLink, Microsoft, and others
·    An optional setting to limit bus visibility to a defined stop radius

What parents need to do
For most users, no action is required beyond updating the app when prompted through the App Store or Google Play. Parents will then follow the on‑screen steps to sign in and continue using HCTB.

Support and resources
The Here Comes the Bus Knowledge Base is the best place for parents to find answers to common questions about the new app experience. It includes step‑by‑step guidance and FAQs in advance to reduce confusion and support requests.
