Groundbreaking Celebration

On October 4, the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township broke ground on two new construction sites that will become the home of two new district elementary schools, increasing the number of elementary schools in Washington Township to eight.

This groundbreaking is the result of a two-year process inclusive of strategic and facility planning, and culminating in an overwhelming approval vote of the largest public school capital referendum project in Indiana history. After months of seeking input, hosting focus groups, and listening to students, employees, and families, the community’s voice was heard. In November 2016, the District won the support from voters approving $185M designated for building two new elementary schools and renovations district-wide, including renovations at North Central High School.

The projects will bring innovative designs to the classrooms and the latest technological and safety improvements. For more information on these district projects, please visit: https://www.msdwt.k12.in.us/facility-planning.
