The Washington Township Board of Directors would like to welcome all of our teachers, staff, administration, parents, and most importantly, our students back to school.  We expect the 2019-2020 school year to be an exciting year for everyone.  The ongoing work of the school board continues the commitment we made to our community by using the funds generated by the 2016 referendum to make improvements to our educational facilities and provide supports for our students.  In July 2019, we opened our two new elementary schools — Clearwater and Willow Lake.  With our architects, construction and other professional partners, we continue to renovate our other school facilities to improve the safety of our students and staff and to better prepare our students for the educational, employment and public service opportunities of the future.  In addition to our facilities, with the community’s support, we upheld our commitment by maintaining our teaching staff and added supports for our students with ten social workers that work in all of our schools, a mental health therapist to support the middle schools, a social emotional behavior coach to work with students and teachers and many other needed student support positions. Like you, we believe that quality schools contribute to the vitality of our Washington Township community.  On behalf of the Washington Township Board of Directors, we want to thank you so much for making Washington Township your home and for choosing our schools as your educational option.  – Board President Thruston
