INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 12, 2016) – At last night’s Washington Township Board of Education meeting Mr. Bill Pitcock was recommended and approved to become the Principal at Westlane Middle School.
Mr. Pitcock joined Washington Township in 2007 where he first served as a teacher for 7th Grade Science at Westlane Middle School. In addition to teaching he also served as the Science Department Chairperson where he successfully led the development and implementation of the IB-MYP Science and Design Technology curriculum. He has served as Assistant Principal at Westlane Middle School since 2014.
Mr. Pitcock holds a B.S. from Purdue University in Elementary Education and an M.A. from Ball State University in Educational Administration. Over the past nine years with Washington Township, Mr. Pitcock has demonstrated his commitment to improving student achievement through his strong leadership and extensive involvement with Westlane Middle School.
“I am humbled and honored to be able to serve the Westlane students, parents and staff as the new building principal,” said Mr. Pitcock. “I am passionate about public education and believe that through our collective actions, we enable thousands of students to realize their dreams while enriching the world around them. Westlane Middle School is very special to me and I know that we will continue to enable academic excellence and social responsibility for all of our students while assuring that they have access to a rich, diverse curriculum taught by dedicated educators. I am very proud to call myself a Wildcat. I hope to make all Wildcats, past, present and future, proud of the success of Westlane Middle School.”
Mr. Pitcock’s new leadership role as the principal of Westlane Middle School will be effective at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 school year. The search for an Assistant Principal for Westlane Middle School is underway.
