North Central King’s Court Singers to perform Madrigal Dinners

Celebrate the holidays with a Madrigal Dinner hosted by North Central High Schools King’s Court Singers. The Madrigals take place Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Carmel.

King’s Court is a 42-member co-ed choir under the direction of Joyce Click that presents various genres – most notably madrigal compositions – in Renaissance period dress.

At the Madrigal dinner, singers will herald each course with traditional songs, including the Wassail, Hark All Ye Lovely Saints Above, and Matona, Lovely Maiden. They also perform skits and dances and sing the Christmas Can-Can made popular by Straight No Chaser. The North Central Handbell Ringing Club and Madrigal Brass will perform as well.

The dinner menu includes roast beef, chicken, smashed red potatoes, green beans with carrots, rolls, tossed salad, chocolate pudding, wassail, tea, lemonade and water. A vegetarian option is available.

Founded more than 30 years ago, the King’s Court Singers perform at fairs, festivals, Pacer games and elsewhere. The group has been named a Gold Medal Choir with Distinction at the State Qualification Contest and Overall Grand Champion Choir in the Music in the Parks competition.
