Teaching and Learning Update

 A strong measure of the success of any public school district may be found in the answer to two important questions:

  1. Does the district prepare our students academically for their postsecondary lives?
  2. Does the district prepare our students for work beyond high school?

In his recent commencement address, Mr. Bryant Branigan, Principal of North Central High School, shared the following statistics:

International Baccalaureate Candidates

Students Qualified For The Core 40 Diploma

Students received The Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma

Students received The North Central Academic Diploma

Students received The Core 40 Diploma with Technical Honors

Members of the class of 2019 have received scholarships totaling more than $19 million over four years to universities, colleges and trade schools.  This does not include athletic scholarships.

Additionally, based on 2018-2019 data, students in our J. Everett Light Career Center have completed an impressive number of industry certifications and dual college credit courses as represented by the information below:

660+ students participated in Work-Based Learning Opportunities (internships, clinicals, on-site, shadowing, etc.)

700 students earned dual credits through Ivy Tech or Vincennes saving families more than $775,000 total in 2018-2019, 7+ credits average per student

123 National Technical Honor Society members (5 earned the $1,000 Jon H. Poteat Scholarship)

96% Graduation Rate

These impressive accomplishments are only possible through the ongoing support of our community.  We are proud to serve this community and provide so many meaningful opportunities for our students.
