Elementary Schools Receive FREE Dictionaries for ALL Third Graders

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township and its seven elementary schools are home to 864 new dictionaries!  Dictionaries were delivered as part of an annual project of the Washington Township Lions Club, aimed at ensuring that every third grader receives a brand new dictionary to support their ongoing development as proficient readers and writers.

The initial idea came to fruition as the Lions Club was searching for a hands on project.  This national project was identified as the perfect opportunity to support the Washington Township community.  In 2014 Nora Elementary was chosen as the pilot school and received 144 dictionaries for their third graders. Since that time the project has grown to include all seven district elementary schools and 864 students! For more information about the project go to www.wordpower@dictionaryproject.org

Washington Township Schools are proud to partner with the Washington Township Lions Club, and we thank them for their ongoing support of teaching and learning in our district!
